Wow...I know it has been a long time. My excuse....I had a BABY! :)
Lillian Rose arrived by C Section on Thursday November 7, 2013 at 7:59am. She weighed in at 6lb 6oz and was 18.5 inches long. (Ryan was 7lb 3 oz and 19 inches).
The last 4 weeks have been good. She is so sweet. She already has her personality. She makes faces all the time. Her wake up face is the duck face. She will make about a dozen faces before even waking up. But when she does, she is so happy.
Her days are pretty much filled by sleep while her nights are not. She has the normal baby schedule which is opposite of children and adults. We does have some gassy and fussy times at night which makes for tired mornings.
My delivery went really well. We went in with a scheduled C Section. I had my epidural which was not comfortable, but the conversation around me was pretty funny. My nurses asked me a few times if I minded having a student watch the epidural. At first I didn't want anyone there, but after being asked again I said yes. Phillip sat in front of me while Carla, the one doing the epidural was behind me.As the epidural was being put in, Carla described the process to the student who was standing where I could see him.
About halfway through, I felt liquid run down my backside (which didn't bother me knowing what it could have been), but right then, Carla asked if the student needed to sit down. He was as white as his scrubs.
Phillip thought this was funny, well we all did, but when I started to laugh I moved. Nothing happened but I had to remind Phillip not to laugh. The student then came back in and said that he was diabetic and needed a diet coke. Poor fella.
The recovery went very well. The stay was very nice, the nurses were very sweet and our welcome dinner was special. We pulled my tray out and sat in front of each other while enjoying steak, lobster, salad, asparagus, tea and what I call holy cow chocolate cake. That cake was amazing :)!!
I did swell up like the last time. I was actually very concerned b/c I did not want to go back to the hospital and deal with everything that happened with Ryan (pulmonary edema).
After about a week at home, I did call the Dr and asked for a water pill. It finally took and my feet and breathing were back to normal....thank goodness. I had to make sure that I was well in order to take care of my family.
Phillip has been AMAZING. He has always been hands on and a fantastic and over the top daddy, but I could not have gotten through any of this without him.
He got to stay home with me all of the next week after we came home. We came home the following Sunday after Lillian was born.
Over all, the delivery and stay were great. The coming home part was challenging. I thought I had this in the bag. We were going to involve Ryan in the taking care of the baby and be good. She has been so helpful, but she knows it's different and has acted out a few times. Nothing bad, just whiny and wanting attention. Bad attention is attention......
Me at 5:13 am the morning of the delivery. I did have makeup on!!
